We have seen this one word change a marriage. And it continues to change our marriage. If you grew in this one word, your marriage would transform. We believe in it that much.
Of all the couples we have worked with who are struggling, humility is usually lacking. Think of an argument you had lately with your spouse. What was your first reaction? Let me guess, you probably got defensive. It doesn't take any effort to get defensive. We just go there by default.
I, Mike, have been there. Andrea can give me the best feedback and present it in the best way and I'll still get defensive by default.
I need God's help to humble myself. And yet I need to respond to God's help.
In 1 Peter 5:5-6 (NASB) it says, "...for God is opposed the to the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time."
Let's humble ourselves under the mighty love of God and let's see His power at work in our marriages.
